The ship sailed for healthy blood sugar balance Hawaii on 1 October and, en route, participated in Convoy Exercise 3-71. She spent two days at Pearl Harbor earlier than persevering with on to Buckner Bay, Okinawa. Leaving Subic Bay on 28 March 1974, control cravings she made stops at Guam and Pearl Harbor before arriving again in San Diego on 18 April and entering a standdown period which lasted via 29 July. The ship arrived at San Diego on three March and started preparations for overhaul. She bought underway, in tow of Abnaki, for the Long Beach Naval Shipyard on 14 April, and commenced a regular overhaul there the next day. She returned to San Diego on 1 February and began overhaul there on the 19th.
